Dr. William Lane Craig

I’m relatively sure that most of you have already heard of, listened to, watched or read books by Dr. William Lane Craig before but just in case …..

William Lane Craig born August 23, 1949 is an American analytic philosopher, Christian theologian, Christian apologist and historian. He holds faculty positions at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, and Houston Baptist University.

Craig is best known for his development and defense of the Kalam cosmological argument, for the existence of God. He also focused in his published work on a historical argument for the resurrection of Jesus.

Craig established and runs the online apologetics ministry ReasonableFaith.org (which I highly recommend). He is also an author of several books, including Reasonable Faith, which began as a set of lectures for his apologetics classes.

Short story is Dr. Craig is very good. What I enjoy about his books is that they are relatively easy to understand, he takes complicated or complex issues and breaks it down for you in such a way that a non-technical person can understand the subject matter. I recently read his book entitled “On Guard: Defending Your Faith with Reason and Precision” and it was excellent. This concise training manual is filled with illustrations, sidebars, and memorable steps to help you stand your ground and defend your faith with reason and precision. In his engaging style, Dr. Craig offers four arguments for God’s existence, defends the historicity of Jesus’ personal claims and resurrection, addresses the problem of suffering, and shows why religious relativism doesn’t work. Along the way, he shares his own story of following God’s call. This one-stop, how-to-defend-your-faith manual will equip you to advance faith conversations deliberately, applying straightforward, cool-headed arguments. You will discover not just what you believe, but why you believe, and how being on guard with the truth has the power to change lives forever.

I’m going to provide the links to four short videos (average of 5 or 6 minutes) put out by Dr. Craig that are excellent. If you haven’t viewed them before they are definitely worth the investment of time:

The Kalam Cosmological Argument

The Fine Tuning of the Universe

The Moral Argument

Leibniz’ Contingency Argument

The Access Research Network features a number of Dr. Craig’s articles and videos. If you haven’t visited the Access Research Network before I highly recommend it also. It is an excellent resource if you are interested in Intelligent Design, Darwin’s Evolution etc.

And finally, there is an excellent summary on winteryknight.com that deals with the Stephen C. Meyer and Marcus Ross lecture on THE CAMBRIAN EXPLOSION. If you would like to view an excellent video on the Cambrian Explosion put out by the Access Research Network the link is hereThe Cambrian Explosion
