Let’s just say that Jesus was just an ordinary man.
Let’s just say that because he was Jewish he had studied the scriptures as a young boy and was familiar with the prophecies about the coming Messiah.
Let’s just say that when he understood that he had been born in Bethlehem, and that he was descended from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and from the tribe of Judah that he knew he met these prerequisites for the Messiah.
Let’s just say that Joseph and Mary had already told him about their trip to Egypt when he was just a baby and the visits from the Angel of the Lord and the Angel Gabriel to Joseph and Mary prior to his birth.
Let’s just say that both Mary and Joseph had told Jesus about how special his conception had been, that Mary had been a virgin.
Let’s just say that Mary and Joseph had told him how the Angel Gabriel had said that one of the titles Jesus would be called would be Emmanuel, which means God with us.
Let’s just say that Jesus knew all these things and in essence there was nothing more that he could do about any of these things that had already occurred.
Let’s just say what actually remained for Jesus to do as an ordinary man.
He waited until He was about 30 years old to start His ministry.
He figured out a way to convince John the Baptist that He was the Messiah.
He figures out a way to get a voice come from the sky indicating that He is God’s Son and a dove to descend on Him when He gets baptized
He figured out a way to change water into wine.
He figured out a way to get a large number of fish to go into Peter’s net before He called Peter to follow Him.
He figured out a way to convince 11 other grown men to follow Him and walk away from their normal lives.
He figured out a way to heal large numbers of people with various diseases and disfigurements, instantly.
He figured out a way to get demons to obey His commands.
He figured out a way to get the weather to respond to His commands.
He figured out a way to walk on water.
He figured out a way to make people alive again after they had died.
He figured out a way to feed large numbers of people (thousands) with only a few fish and loafs of bread, and to still have some left over.
He figured out a way to have a fish with a coin in it’s mouth, get caught by Peter.
He figures out a way to convey His teachings of the truth via parables and stymie His opposition with questions about the scriptures.
He figures out a way to stop a fig tree from growing by uttering a curse.
He figures out a way to convince Peter, James and John that He radiates light on the Mount of Transfiguration, that Moses and Elijah appear and a voice in the sky calls Him Son.
He figures out a way to clarify truth from God that convinces young and old, rich and poor, of the righteousness and love that emulates from His Father.
He figures out a way to convince all who hear him of their sin, of their need for repentance and that faith in Him will bring forgiveness for their sin and eternal life.
He figures out a way to get one of His disciples to betray Him.
He figures out a way to get them to pay the betrayer 30 pieces of silver.
He figures out a way to get them to use the 30 pieces of silver to buy a potter’s field.
He figures out a way to be numbered with transgressors when he is sentenced to death.
He figures out a way to be given vinegar to drink after getting His hands and feet pierced when crucified.
He figures out a way to have soldiers gamble for his garments while on the cross.
He figures out a way so that none of His bones are broken and that they will pierce His side.
He figures out a way so that He will be buried with the rich.
He figures out a way to rise again from the dead after three days.
He figures out a way to convince the Apostles and disciples numbering over 500, over a period of 40 days, that He is indeed alive and that He is the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
He figures out a way to ascend up into the sky and disappear in a cloud in the sight of the Apostles.
He figures out a way to fill the Apostles and disciples with His Spirit after He has ascended up into heaven.
Jesus was just an ordinary man, it can’t be, not possible, no way. The Apostles were eye witnesses to these events and saw the fulfillment of prophecy in Jesus’ life. Like the Apostle Thomas, we have to say “My Lord and my God!”
LET’S JUST SAY THAT JESUS IS INDEED THE SON OF GOD!
“Let’s just say” is NOT an exhaustive or fully comprehensive list of prophecies about the Messiah or miracles that Jesus performed.
Worthy is the Lamb! Blessings!
