God’s Word has much to say about how Christians should treat one another. It never hurts to be reminded of how we are to treat one another as fellow believers in Jesus Christ. And remember that we, as His followers, are His ambassadors to the world. Do we bring Him glory through our words and actions, or do we dishonor Him in front of an unbelieving world? The words we speak are powerful. So much so that we are commanded to tame our tongue. Jesus said we would be held accountable for every idle word we speak. With this warning in mind, it should give us reason to pause and reflect upon how we interact and speak about our brothers and sisters in the Lord.
And what ever happened to greeting one another with a holy kiss?
“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.” (James 3:9-12)
