Every Once in a While

pearl

Do you every remember as a youth, coming across a few coins on the ground and thinking that you were extra ordinarily lucky?

That’s happened to me in the last couple of days.

Two things, the first is a witness of God’s Holy Spirit who lives within me about another person. About a year ago I had an opportunity to speak with a young man at work about faith in God. His father was a Christian and the young man had been going through some pretty hard times. He hadn’t worked at a steady job for quite a while and had faltered. I was flooded with compassion for this young man and it was so easy to love him. That’s God’s love working through me. It was extra ordinary, that overwhelming awareness of how God loved this young man doesn’t happen to me every day. I let the young man know how much God loved him and I gave him as much encouragement as I could. The young man had told me that his Father was his rock, that he’d always been there for him and that it was his Father’s faith in God and him that kept him going. I remembered the encounter because of how God had witnessed to me of His love for this young man. It was indeed memorable.

Fast forward a year. I’d see this young man go through the military gate that I work at a few times and I would always wave to him as he entered. He was working steady now, five days a week. The other day I had an opportunity to say a few words to him and he told me that he had gotten married. I congratulated him and he went on his way.

Two days ago I again saw him and I said to him that his Father must be pleased that he was married and his life had leveled out. He was attending church on a regular basis now. He told me that his Father had passed on but he knew where he was. At that very moment an internal witness from the top of my head to my feet went through my body. It was just a second but it was familiar. It’s rare but it’s happened before a few times. The internal witness of the Holy Spirit. The young man walked away. I called him back and reminded him of how God had witnessed to me of His love for him a year ago and how, today, at this very moment, He had done it again when the young man had mentioned his Father was now with the Lord. I couldn’t keep that to myself. He looked me in the eyes and said “really”, and I said “really”. We warmly shook hands and he went on his way. I’m grateful for God’s witness and I’m grateful that the Holy Spirit lives in me. That witness was not for me, it was for the young man.

How does one thank God for something like that? In this particular instance, it had absolutely nothing to do with me, it was all our Lord. God working through us can be like this at times and there are other situations where we reach out in kindness because of the kindness that He has shown us. I’m grateful for both.

Second thing. I’ve been conversing with a woman in India named Rayla. who started following my blog. Her husband’s name is Noel. Beautiful Christian witness. Her website is https://innerdialects.wordpress.com/

Please take the time to check it out, you’ll be glad you did.

If what I’ve seen so far is indicative of what is to come, it will be me learning from them, not the other way around.

Rayla sent me a link of her daughter Vihan singing “Love India“. You’ve got to see and hear this, it’s truly beautiful. The link is here.

And here is Rayla and her daughter Vihan singing together, in “Father I Kneel” again simply beautiful. The link is here.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own little world that we forget what God is doing elsewhere, many times, most times, the difficulties we face are nothing compared to what other Christians face daily. And yet, the witness of the Holy Spirit tells us that without doubt, their faith is like ours and the truth they and we adhere to is universal.

Two little gems I thought I would share.

Worthy is the Lamb. Blessings!

It does my heart good to know the faith is strong in some in India. I too follow a few from the region and praise our Father for their witness.

  2. This is amazing to even read…. God bless your heart that cares so deeply for people, no matter where they are. We live in times of indifference, mistrust, ignorance of each other, as nations, as people, as individuals. And yet every so often as the Precious Lord permits, He allows such an event as brotherly love to flow down the forehead,…. I’m rambling for joy. Thank you for your generous words, and yet am stilled, by the utter beauty of the presence of God in all this.

  3. Was so happy, replying here, I got Pa Aaron’s forehead for his dear beard :)))

Psalm 133 ; How good and pleasant it is when God’s people ….like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe… as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

  4. Wonderful post, Bruce! And I love her blog! But hadn’t heard Rayla and her daughter sing. Wonderful! Thank you!
