America, Trust Not in Princes | Michael Horton

This is a WordPress repost of an excellent article originally authored by Michael Horton on the website. Michael reminds us of the folly of trusting in the princes of this earth. It is indeed a timely post. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, O my soul!
I will praise the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I
have my being.

Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no
When his breath departs, he returns to
the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of
whose hope is in the LORD his God,
who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.

The LORD sets the prisoners free;
the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD lifts up those who are bowed
the LORD loves the righteous.
The LORD watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,

The LORD will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the LORD! (Psalm 146)

      The author never said not to vote, it’s a matter of in whom you place your ultimate trust. One doesn’t condone or overlook inappropriate actions of a prince to obtain desired objectives for the King. The righteousness of the King hasn’t changed.

  2. Bruce, thank you for sharing a post of one of my favorite Psalms and authors. How well this article fits with my post today ~ God’s people are afflicted when we seek any other authority above His, so as to bring us back to Him in humility and submission to full dependence on Him. Blessings for your week.:)
