Sometimes, when I’m saying a prayer to our Lord, I thank Him for being who He is. And who God is can mean a lot of different things but when push comes to shove, for me personally, He is Truth. I can depend on Him to say what He means and mean what He says. I can know that I can trust Him, that He can be depended on, always. He never goes back on His word, He never changes, the manner in which He reasons and responds to all things is always the same. And He is just, He is holy, He is merciful and He does not lie.
I don’t think that there is anything more important that truth. You can’t have a real relationship without truth. You can’t develop trust without truth, you can’t reach a destination or conclusion without truth, you literally can’t achieve anything of true lasting positive value for all, without truth. One of the greatest truths of the world that we live in, that few can deny, is that there is indeed love and their is indeed evil, in our world.
In John 14:6 NIV John records Jesus saying, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“
This truth, this reality, this realization, is probably one of, if not the greatest truths that God has ever given to us.
And in John 8:44 NIV John records Jesus saying, “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
And this truth, this reality, this realization, is probability one of the most underestimated and disregarded truths that God has ever given to us.
And if you’re like me, you’ve probably spent a good deal of your life trying to find truth. Truth about God, truth about ourselves, truth about others and all that we see and experience. Generally speaking, it’s seldom an easy journey. And if we earnestly try to find truth, we encounter the comprehension that the basis or platform that we’re working from, our own perception and understanding, doesn’t always lead us to truth. We can get waylaid by selfish motives, deceitful perceptions about ourselves and others and the self centered purposes behind much of what we say and do.
And then there is grace, undeserved favor, where God in His mercy, gives us eyes to see and ears to hear and our hearts and minds are changed and His Spirit dwells within us, to guide us and show us of His ways.
I don’t know about you but I am really tired of the never ending barrage of deception and lies. Lies we hear and see on the media everyday, regardless of what political party or system we associate with. I am tired of the twisted logic used to render truth as wrong and lies as right.
The reality of God is denied.
The reality of God’s holiness is denied.
The reality of God’s creation is denied.
The reality and the preservation of God’s written revelation is denied.
The reality of Lucifer and the fallen angels and their perversion of truth is denied
The denial of humanity’s sinfulness and the perpetuation of self is denied.
The reality of mankind’s spirit and conscientiousness within our physical body is denied.
The reality of God’s love, justice and mercy is denied.
The reality of God’s gift of His Son’s life for our sins is denied.
The reality of the Resurrection of Jesus is denied.
The reality of the spiritual realm beyond the physical universe is denied.
The reality of the return of Jesus in His glory is denied.
The reality of all things being presented back to the Father, by Jesus, is denied.
Continually denied, every minute of every hour, of every day.
There are a lot of things that I don’t know or understand. But God in His wisdom and mercy has provided those of us who believe in Him, with enough understanding and enough trust in His revelation, in His demonstration of unselfish love, via the obedience and love expressed in and through Jesus , the Messiah, God’s only begotten Son, who came in the flesh, who laid down His life for us, and rose again from the dead, so that we, who believe, who trust, will live eternally with God, where God is, to His glory,
Hard to believe? Not when you honestly look at the facts, not when you honestly allow God’s Word to speak to you, not when you’ve experienced the presence of God’s love and forgiveness and the joy of His presence.
These times are not easy. But we do have a sure word.
Philippians 4:4-9 NIV “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”
