I started this blog back in 2008 but if you look at my post history you will see a few blank spots. 24 posts in 2008 when I started commenting on Eckhart Tolle (remember him?). One post in 2009, nothing in 2010 and 1 post in 2011 and 2012, nothing in 2013 and 2014 and then one again in 2015. So if you look at 2009 on onward to 2015 I only really posted 4 posts over those 7 years. A little on the sparse side would be an understatement. 2016 was the year that I decided to actually dedicate some serious time to blogging, which is really just under 4 years ago.
I’m grateful for having done so for a number of reasons. I’ve learned an awful lot in those four years. Made a few mistakes along the way, still do from time to time, but I’ve gained so much more than I have put into it. My prayer life has radically improved, I spend a lot more time studying God’s Word than I used to and I’ve come to know a lot of dear friends along the way. Most importantly, my walk with our Lord has been greatly enriched. I don’t know if you remember those old bumper stickers that you used to see on cars that stated “Feel distant from God? Who moved?”, but that would be me. God’s grace is a beautiful thing.
I’ve never had a problem with public speaking, it comes relatively natural to me and I have been told that I excel at it many times. But where I do my best thinking is when I read and when I write, so quite often when I do write something, I’m writing to myself. I wish I could tell you how often I start an article with one idea in mind and it ends up quite different from where I expected it to go. I’m pretty sure God has something to do with that, so in essence, He teaches me as I write. Bible verses suddenly appear in my mind and dots are connected.
I marvel at the dedication, faith and wisdom I see in others. There is so much garbage everywhere you look today but there is also an awful lot of God’s children everywhere. None of us are perfect, we still all stumble at times but I still see that down to earth realness and I am drawn to that because I’m just ordinary like most of us are. The names that come flooding to my mind right now, both men and woman who trust in Jesus, who I’ve met over these last four years is truly amazing. If I named one I’d just have to mention all of you and your folks told me to keep my articles short, so . . . .
Just wanted to thank you all for lifting me when you do, which is quite often. I want to thank you for sharing what sometimes doesn’t come easy. I thank you for overlooking my mistakes and short sightedness too. God’s grace is a beautiful thing and His love is unbounded. The reality of walking with Jesus daily isn’t always easy but all of you help me more than you know. I am thankful and humbled that a good number of you call me a friend.
I wish all of you a blessed weekend!
Worthy is the Lamb! Blessings!
