Fighting the Good Fight

Today, 7 January 2021, is the day that my friend and brother in Christ, Bill Sweeney, will be buried. I never had the pleasure of actually meeting Bill but we did exchange comments and thoughts back and forth with one another for almost four years. Bill had a gentle spirit and a sense of humour that was hard to ignore. And Bill had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus that instantly seemed to cast an air of confidence over any topic that was being discussed. I’m really going to miss Bill. Bill was a warrior that never let circumstances dictate who he was.

The shell of Bill will be buried today but Bill is not there. His spirit lives on in the presence of Jesus, experiencing the joy and wonder of what God has prepared for those who love Him. Bill and Mary are gifts to the Church. A testament of faith, love and endurance that few can duplicate. And I am indebted.

Here are a few pictures that Bill and his family shared.

Thank you so much Bill, Mary and family, for sharing your unshakable hope. One day we shall all meet and I look forward to that day!

Update: I am including the link to the video of Bill’s funeral service that Mary just recently posted:
