Don’t Read This !

I am 76 years old and I am tired.
I’m tired of “alternate” facts.
I’m tired of wrong being called right and right being called wrong.
I’m tired of the seemingly endless battle of words and manipulation for position, to ultimately gain earthly power.
I’m tired of our collective unwillingness to sacrifice for our children and their children.
I’m tired of the injustice and inequality that our society now breeds.
I’m tired of the greed for wealth and power that permeates the fabric of our nation.
I’m tired of our individual shortsightedness and our collective inability to not be able to see where this will end.
I’m tired of seeing our Christian witness being destroyed from within and attacked from without and knowing that I am powerless to change this alone.
I’m tired because we’ve long since abandoned God’s message to further our own.
I’m tired because our collective Christian credibility is in shambles and we are collectively reaping exactly what we have sown.
I’m tired because we follow our ways and our own thoughts and have forsaken God who has asked us to trust in Him.
I’m tired because we do not trust in God, we trust in ourselves.
I’m tired because this is becoming increasingly self evident, but it’s only just beginning.
And yes, I know, I may sound and speak as a fool.
But in all fairness, I warned you not to read this.

Worthy is the Lamb! Blessings!

  1. This looks like a fair rant brother. I have days like that too. In my opinion it is His Spirit within us that rages against the world, to keep us on the straight and narrow. God bless you and your family Bruce.

  2. I’m tired too, Bruce. I kept reading, because misery loves company. Thankfully, God is still on the throne, and He’s seen this type of “circus” play out for millennia. Whatever happens, may we conduct ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. That’s what I keep saying to myself, anyway. Blessings to you and yours!

    • Hi David, Alan identified this post as a wee bit of a rant and it undoubted is. I took two aspirins and will drink lots of water today and I should be alright tomorrow! 🙂 Thanks for your patience! Blessings!

  3. Dear sweet brother who frequently encourages me with your wise posts… ❤️ Be encouraged. Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: ❤️ Be encouraged.

    • Thank you! You’re absolutely right. We have some sunshine here today, I probably should get outside and enjoy it! Old men can be a weird lot. Thanks for the encouragement, God’s grace, peace and blessings to you and yours!

    • Hi Anneta, you’re right, our strength is renewed daily, I just need to refocus every once in a while. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 comes to mind” “Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet our inner person is being renewed day by day. For our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” I just slapped myself on the back of my head! Blessings!

  4. Bruce, I too share your frustration with the state of our world. I’m sure it saddens the heart of our precious Savior, as He views the current condition of the church.

We must not get weary in well doing though. We must continue to tell the lost that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. This must be our mission until we either; breathe our last mortal breath or hear the Rapture trumpet sound.

    • Hi Marques, you’re right of course, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” I’m thinking I was slipping a bit. Blessings!

    • This Scripture from Philippians 4:8 came to mind: “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Thinking I’m slipping a bit today. Blessings!

      • It might feel like that but we are but humans and in our humanity we get tired, frustrated and plain angry.
I read the other day that if I were to turn a flashlight on in the daylight no one would notice but if I did it once it was dark, everyone would see. This reminded me that we are in Gods hands. All the Glory will be His. There are people in “high” places that can turn away and think they won’t be touched by His judgment but NO ONE is above God’s will, His law and His judgment. It’s a weary time right now but have hope, take heart. God sees your heart.

  5. It’s hard not to rant once in a while but I think that is better than ranting all the time. We try not to watch much news. I find if I read it instead of watch it my response is not as bad. It just seems that every areas one turns to there is such lack of common sense. I pray we who know the Lord can stand strong for the sake of those children watching us can see a Godly response from us, especially when we fail to respond right.

  6. I think not a day passes when either my husband or I say, “I hate this world! I’ll be glad when we get to go home!” Surely the Lord will return soon, at least that’s our hope.

    • Hi Candice, I hear you on that one, that’s for sure, as this post of mine clearly illustrates, but it’s not all about us, is it? Thanks for taking the time to comment Candice, always appreciated. God’s grace, peace and blessings on you and yours as always.

  7. Bruce, I read this back when you sent it, but for some reason I have trouble comment on my phone. I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your honesty. I’ve learned that the blogs where the people are most authentic are the ones who speak to the heart. I also love how when we are honest about where we are, we have brothers and sisters who come alongside us to lift us up just like what happened here. 🙂

    • Thank you Mary. None of us, that I am aware of, walk the high road, all of the time. And amazingly, God not only knows that, but provides the means whereby we are lifted up by one another, through His indwelling Holy Spirit, in the living body of believers. And that in itself, is really beautiful, when you stop to think about it. We all have so much to learn and yet God is so patient. Thank you for taking the time to speak to me and all of us, from your heart. It means a lot. God’s continued grace, peace and blessings to you and yours as always. Love in Christ – Bruce
