How Is It That We Do Not See?

Romans 1:20 NASB
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

I know this post is a tad on the long side but please bear with me. This post covers a lot of ground.

For a large part of humanity, life as we know it, began in a primordial soup during the gradual chemical evolution of molecules that contain carbon, on this planet that we live on, millions of years ago. Basic cells appeared and life in all its varied forms began its journey, as we have been told. There was no intelligent causal agent involved, there was no God directing what transpired, it just happened, all by itself, totally undirected, totally by chance.

And this planet that we live on, in our solar system, assumed to be relatively common within the galaxy that our planet is located in, is but just one of billions and billions of other galaxies within the expanding universe that we live in. And our universe, our galaxy and our planet, these too just happened by chance, came into being out of nothing, without any intelligent causal agent. Time, space, matter and energy just happened all by itself, out of nothing and caused by nothing.

And we humans, in all of our various genetic branches, are a product of evolution, mutation upon mutation, improvement upon improvement, taking thousands of years to arrive at where we are today. Again, all by chance, totally undirected, without any intelligent causal agent. Likewise with all the different animals and creatures that we see, on the land, in the sea and in the air. Stunning though the variety may be, all of this came about by sheer chance, the result of random evolutionary micro and macro mutations over millions of years. (Microevolution happens on a small scale, within a single population or species, while macroevolution happens on a scale that transcends the boundaries of a single species).

And the environment that we live in, the land, the seas, the fresh water lakes, the different eco systems including our atmosphere and tectonic plates in the earth’s crust, are all just products of an evolving planet where living organisms and non-living components of our environment, over time, made what we see today. Totally undirected, dependent upon factors that are random and subject to chance.

And humanity itself, with our evolved mental and physical capabilities, have covered the four corners of the earth, surviving in different climates and environments through all of recorded history. There is no guiding moral code within our species because morality is subjective, we decide, actions are deemed appropriate or inappropriate by those who hold power and control, subject to change as those who hold power determine, having obtained that authority by the conquest of opposing ideologies. Our history is encumbered with numerous instances of the strong controlling the weak, those who have control, taking advantage of those who don’t have control and those who want to hold and maintain that power and control, at almost any cost. Countless millions and millions of human lives have been sacrificed throughout history because of the shifting and changing determinations of those who hold power, sometimes for the gain of liberties for the masses, but far too often at the expense of the suppression of the controlled masses.

We do see in history, some hope for the greater good of the masses, where oppressive authority and control is challenged, where oppression is opposed and the basic rights of all people are taken into consideration but this too frequently appears to be relatively short lived because of the subjective reasoning held by the man or woman or men who control and hold power, where the end justifies the means. Without a righteous universal moral code that levels the playing field for all, humanity is basically like a ship at sea without a rudder, subject to the fate of random chance with regard to which direction we will go.

The shortfall of all subversive, progressive and liberating ideologies is the deficiencies that are within man himself.

So we try to survive within the particular subjective political system we are born into, we try to beat the odds of being oppressed or controlled by accumulating wealth or authoritative position, sometimes through nefarious means, which gives us more power and choices, hoping that in the end, we achieve our goals, live the good life and pass on some hope for the future survival of our children and then we die. Survival of the fittest. These are the choices that random chance with evolution at the helm gives us. These are the options that science, in all its accumulated wisdom tells us, this is what the vast majority of humanity sees and has to work with, from without and from within.

But Did You Know …..

But did you know that there is no Primordial soup, that no one really knows how life that is capable of reproducing itself actually happened? Did you know that no one has ever been able to produce living organisms from non-living matter, ever? Did you know that many of the basic tenants of macroevolution are now being questioned and challenged by scientists in these specific scientific fields? Did you know that our planet is extremely unique and the laws of probability say that it shouldn’t exist? Did you know that our solar system and galaxy and universe is actually extremely fine tuned to sustain carbon life as we know it, against odds that are basically not possible to have happened if operating within the confines of random chance? Did you know that are a good number of scientists, with the advent of DNA now becoming understood, not to mention comprehending the ever expanding immense complexity of the “simple cell”, are now reconsidering and some are accepting the idea that an intelligent causal agent outside of the box is not only possible but probable? In short, they are saying that it isn’t logical that this all happened by chance, what they are now seeing defies the laws of probability. For an expanded overview of these changes that are taking place, may I suggest that you consider viewing this page

Did you know that there is only one religion (Christianity) in the world, that says that the universe and mankind was created by God and that our connection to Him was broken so that our ability to follow His righteous Universal Moral Law is not possible or within our human capabilities and that God has provided a means whereby we can become united with Him again, not only here but in continued life after we die and leave these earthly bodies, namely through accepting the sacrifice of the shed blood and death of His Divine Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross, as the means whereby our breaking of His righteous Universal Moral Law is covered over and forgiven and we are reunited to Him again. In short, we can’t earn our way back into communion with Him, He restores us, not us restoring ourselves to Him, through our own good works. And His righteous universal morale law or code is then written on our hearts and we are changed from within, where His Holy Spirit now dwells.

Did you know that there is only one religion (Christianity) in the world where the founder of that religion was Resurrected from the dead? Only one.

Romans 1:20 NASB
“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”

Acts 28:25-27 NASB
“And when they disagreed with one another, they began leaving after Paul said one parting statement: “The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers, saying,
Go to this people and say,
You will keep on hearing, and will not understand,
And you will keep on seeing, and will not perceive;
For the hearts of this people have become insensitive
And with their ears they hardly hear,
And they have closed their eyes;
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart and return,
And I would heal them.”

Worthy is the Lamb! Blessings!

  1. Good argument against random chance offering any plausible explanation for how we got here. I also agree that Christianity is the only plausible alternative. The Fall explains evil. The death and resurrection of Jesus gives us hope through salvation. We await His second coming.

    We probably disagree on how much of the Bible to take seriously since I’m a biblical creationist and I suspect you are not, but we do agree on the inadequacy of random chance as an explanation so we have a lot in common.

    • Hi Frank, yes, you and I would probably disagree on the literal six days, but interestingly enough, I still consider myself a biblical creationist, as do many others who hold to an old earth perspective. And I’m thinking that a lot of us who lean towards OAC do also take the Bible seriously. And that’s OK, I can accept (which does not necessarily mean agree with) a differing opinion in a Christian brother on this subject, as I would hope you can accept mine. Blessings!

  2. That’s it in a nutshell Bruce. However it happened, and I’m content to find out when in eternity how far my superior intellect (cough,,,sniffle…snicker) was off.
    It’s just good to know there is a God who loves us and rescues us through Christ. I am secure enough to walk and talk with almost anyone in the grocery line or on the street about the hope within me and listen to their stories of life and dreams fulfilled or lost.

  3. What a difference when the presupposition is life began as primordial soup versus God created us; also good point about the only religion that claim to be resurrected except Jesus
