The Gospel in a Nutshell

John 3:16-21 NASB
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, so that his deeds will not be exposed. But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.”

Sometimes, when I get up early in the morning, thoughts about what I dreamed about will come back to mind. What follows below is what came to mind this morning.

God, our heavenly Father, is a Spirit and is holy and without sin
Holy is being good and just for all, without impartiality,
God is not impartial in any of His ways and thoughts
Sin is not being good and just for all, by being impartial
Sin is being impartial in some of our ways and thoughts
Being Holy is being without impartiality, always, as in without ceasing
God does not condone or accept any sin or selfish impartiality in His presence

Once, long ago, God’s creation walked and talked with Him
They trusted and relied on Him, for all that they did
In all their ways and thoughts
And they were without sin in God’s eyes
But they decided, to follow their own ways and their own thoughts
And their own ways and thoughts produced impartial thoughts and actions
And the communion and oneness with God were broken.

We, (God’s creation) are not holy and we all commit sin
We, in and of ourselves, cannot change ourselves into being holy
Neither in our bodies nor in our spirits
Sin in our ways and thoughts, separates us from God

God, in His mercy and grace, loved us even though we were not Holy (sinners)
God reached out to us, by first sending us His prophets
And finally, by sending us His Son Jesus
Jesus was and is good and without impartiality
Jesus did for us, what we in and of ourselves, could not and cannot do
Jesus took upon Himself, both physically and spiritually
The separation that sin in us produced
Separation from God brings death, both physically and spiritually
Jesus followed the will of the Father, by giving of Himself for us
Jesus is God’s righteousness, in all of His ways and all of His thoughts
Jesus paid the price Himself, of the consequences of our sin
Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world

God the Father, whose will Jesus followed, accepted the sacrifice that Jesus gave
As the atonement or covering over of our sins, for God’s righteousness covered our sins
And God our Father, in union with the Son and His Holy Spirit, validated His acceptance
By collectively raising Jesus from the dead. Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three in one.

God’s ways and thoughts go against our human nature
And the contrast is self-evident in many of our ways and thoughts
Striking back when we are struck
Returning evil for evil
Thinking higher of ourselves than we ought
Withholding forgiveness; because we see no necessity for ourselves to be forgiven
One standard for others and another for ourselves
Our focus is on ourselves and we consider not God’s ways and thoughts

Jesus told us that we must be born again
A prerequisite of which there is no exception
To have our body and spirit infused (brought to life again) with His indwelling Holy Spirit
To change our ways and thoughts to align with God’s
This journey begins here and ends when we see Him face to face
When we are completed in Jesus, in His likeness

The journey is different for each of us, yet similar in many ways
Learning to trust and believe in God’s goodness and provision
Many times in spite of what we hear and see
But that union within grows as we learn to have faith and trust in Him
In all of our ways and all of our thoughts, as we align ourselves with Him

Words on paper, thoughts in print
Inadequate and lacking as they may be
Such is this Bible nutshell offered
To all who would look and see.

Worthy is the Lamb! Blessings!
