Normally I’m not always funny, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always good, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always kind, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always smart, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always impartial, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always patient, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always generous, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always compassionate, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always forgiving, but I can be.
Normally I’m not always loving, but I can be.
What I can be, and what I normally am, are not always one and the same.
What I normally once was, and what I normally am now, are also not one and the same.
What I used to not hear at all, I now hear more of.
What I used to not see at all, I now see more of.
What I used to not consider at all, I now consider more of.
What I used to not understand at all, I now understand more of.
I have learned and surmised that I have but one hope, and that hope is personified in the person of God’s only Son, Jesus the Christ, the promised Messiah, God in the flesh, among us.
For great is the gulf that exists between a holy, righteous and just God, and me.
Even from what I once was, to what I now am.
And ONLY God’s grace can bridge that gap, and that grace is provided in God’s only Son.
These are the words spoken by Jesus, the Son, as given to Him, to speak to us, by His Father:
John 3:16-21 NASB
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. 18 The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, so that his deeds will not be exposed. 21 But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.”
Amazing as these words are, the last few words spoken by Jesus really says it all to me. “But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.” Earnestly searching for truth will bring us to consider Christ, and having done so, most who truly consider His words, will come to the realization that it is not our deeds that bridge that gap between a Holy God and ourselves, it is His deeds being performed in us, by Him. And that in simplicity is God’s sheer grace.
If you’ve never actually taken the time to earnestly hear the words that Jesus spoke, do it.
If you’ve never actually taken the time to earnestly consider His words, do it.
If you’ve never actually taken the time to accept His offer of grace, do it.
Jesus the Son, is God’s answer to the difference between He and us, and all of it, all of it, is made possible, entirely because of and by God. That is why Jesus is my only hope and I would also hope, your hope too!
Worthy is the Lamb! Blessings!

Love it Bruce, except for the part where I personalize it and found my normal doesn’t come close to “what I can be” which is all too true.
Have a great 2023.
I’m going to take a run and plow into the new year hoping some of my leaves will turn over.

Thanks, Gary. And plowing into 2023 sounds like a plan! Just the sheer force ought to turn something over! Sounds like my plan too! Now if I could just remember where that plow is, I’d be laughing! Blessings brother!
