Investigating the New Apostolic Reformation Movement

If you haven’t heard of the New Apostolic Reformation Movement (NAR), you’re not alone. One of the consequences of this apparent unfamiliarity, is that many individual Christians and Christian churches, have become infiltrated with its unorthodox Christian doctrines, and are not aware of its history, nor of the NARs endorsement of some New Age Spirituality practises. The continually spreading and vast collective organization of this movement, that operates for a considerable part, behind the scenes, within the visible Christian Church, is actually very large, and consequently, multitudes of well meaning Christians are being led into a path of deception with “another Gospel”, which is “contrary to” the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that the Apostle Paul makes reference to, in his letter to the Galatians in Galatians 1:8.

You are NOT going to get a good working knowledge or understanding of the complexity of this movement, by reviewing two or three posts, from a multitude of well documented summaries or articles, that have been published, as warnings about this movement, by many Evangelical Christian Churches and organizations, within Christianity. If you want to understand it, and the implications that it presents to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, you are going to need to devote some serious time to it. That, unfortunately, is the long and the short of it. And just like devoting serious time to reading and praying over what God’s Word actually says, far too many well meaning Christians just can’t be bothered, and therein lies the problem, of how error, can be accepted as God’s truth.

In order to understand the goals and message of the New Apostolic Reformation, it is necessary to investigate its history, invest time to investigate its doctrines, beliefs and practises, and personally validate as to whether, what the NAR disseminates, or puts forth as truth, is in agreement with what the Holy Scriptures tell us. The words of Luke in Acts 17:11 come to mind where Luke tells us that: “Now these people were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” Emphasis is mine.

The Apostle Paul reinforces to Timothy that God’s Holy Scriptures, are the key to discerning that which is in accordance with God’s will and guidance, in his letter to Timothy, in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 where he states: “All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work.” Emphasis is mine. God’s Holy Scriptures are in fact, the reference point or benchmark by which we are to judge, compare or discern, that which is in accordance with God’s will and guidance, and that which is not.

The necessity of adhering to this logic is as follows: “If one is going into a forest to find a particular edible mushroom, one needs to be thoroughly conversant with what the mushroom looks, smells and feels like, so one can identify it, from other mushrooms that one may encounter and may look similar to it. If you are not thoroughly conversant with what the mushroom looks, smells and feels like, when one finds a mushroom that is similar to it, but not identical to it, you won’t be able to tell the difference between the two of them. The mushroom you are very familiar with, and IS edible, may in fact be very similar to another mushroom which is NOT edible, but in fact poisonous. Or, another way of putting it is, if you have no reference point or benchmark from which to compare truth from error, you are vastly more susceptible to accepting error.”

Because many people do not take the necessary time to study God’s Word and also familiarize themselves with orthodox evangelical Christian doctrines and practises, that are and have been generally accepted throughout the ages, plus they are not familiar with why they have been generally accepted from a biblical perspective, and have not looked into the history behind the New Apostolic Reformation movement, or are not able to recognize the unorthodox doctrines of the New Apostolic Reformation movement, many of the doctrines and practises of the New Apostolic Reformation movement are accepted at face value, without any critical discernment being exercised.

Practising Biblical discernment is not an optional choice for a follower of Jesus. We are repeatedly instructed throughout the Bible, to study God’s Word so that we are able to rightly divide God’s Word, and not be ashamed or unable to rightly handle the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

It is my personal opinion and the learned opinions of many other individuals and groups identified below, that the unorthodox doctrines, some of their practises and much of the teachings of the New Apostolic Reformation movement are not new, they are not apostolic and they are not in any way shape or form, remotely reformative, in accordance with God’s Holy Word.

There are normally at least two sides to every story or supposition that is being put forward as truth. What follows on this dedicated web page, that is focused on the investigation of the claims (doctrines, teachings and practises) of the New Apostolic Reformation movement, are numerous links which provide summary overviews, historical background, doctrinal discourses and biblical criticism on the unorthodox doctrines, some of the practises and much of the teachings of the NAR, that are deemed as NOT being in agreement with God’s Holy Word. The threat to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the collective body of Christ, His true church, is HUGE and it does indeed, warrant your concern and attention.

There is a real and present danger of exchanging God’s Holy Word, as our benchmark of what is acceptable and what is not acceptable, with the alluring reality of “experience” introduced through “experimental” encounters and “prophetic” revelations, by those who claim to be the spoke persons for God. When what we “experience” or what we are given via prophetic utterances, as new divine revelations, is not in agreement with God’s Holy Word, then what we “experience” or are “guided” by, should be rejected as originating from an alternate source, that is not of God. God does not change and neither does His Holy Word.

Jesus warned us that as the “end of the age” approached there would be many false christs and false prophets and they would deceive MANY (Matthew 24:4-8) and the Apostle Paul warned us that there would be a “strong delusion” sent in the end times (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). Is it possible that part of this “strong delusion, could be the infiltrating and spreading of the New Apostolic Reformation within the visible Christian Church? I and many others, earnestly believe that it is indeed possibly so. It is my sincere hope and prayer that the following sample of available informational links and videos, provides YOU with the information you need, to determine if this movement, along with its doctrines and practises, are from God and in accordance with His Holy Word.
